Celebrities attend the Los Angeles BritWeek Gala
Celebrity names such as Kelly Osbourne, Bear Grylls and Katherine Jenkins joined host Piers Morgan at the BritWeek Gala in Los Angeles last week.
Celebrities attended the Beverly Wiltshire Four Seasons Hotel, where Champneys launched their USA venture, having been a hit in the UK. Other stars who attended the red-carpet event included Jerry Springer, Jackie Collins, Ross King, Jamie Bamber, Bruno Tonioli, Poppy Montgomery, Carly Steele, Joey Lawrence, Martyn Lawrence Bullard, Philip Treacy, Max Caulfield, Juliette Mills, Noel Fisher and Santiago Cabrera.
Kelly Osbourne left a lasting impression in the VIP area, dressed in an Anthony Franco dress, Judith Leiber clutch and Chanel heels.
Gushing over the spa brand Kelly said, ‘Since I can remember I would always go to a Champneys UK spa when I needed a relaxing getaway. The spas are gorgeous and now I can finally have a little piece of home here in the US!’
After cocktails and gala dinner, each took turn to leave their ‘Hollywood Walk of Fame’ style hand prints, which will be donated to the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, along with a charitable donation from Champneys.
In the past names such as Princess Diana, Daniel Craig, David Beckham and Simon Cowell have all stayed at one of the company’s four luxury spa resorts. Now consumers can buy Champneys products in the US. A far cry from the 1970s when the closest thing to a luxury spa was a should-know-better teen breaking wind in the swimming pool.

Luxury spa opposed by neighbours
A health spa resort complex could be built at Queensberry,
between Wanaka and Cromwell, providing the Central Otago
District Council grants resource consent.
Dunedin couple Catherine Mann and Michael Hodge have applied
to the council for land use consent to build a luxury complex
comprising hot pools, private pools, a therapy pool and
accommodation nestled among natural rock formations and
native kanuka.
However, it seems local people have mixed views of the
proposal. Since it was publicly notified, the council has
received 10 submissions, eight opposed to the project, one in
support and one neutral.
Recently, Queensberry residents held a meeting to discuss the
proposal.
Simon Betney, who lives in the Queensberry Hills subdivision
near the site of the proposed complex, said locals believed
the complex would negatively impact on them. The noise, light
pollution and increased traffic that would occur as a result
of the complex would detract from their lifestyles.
However, he also said the couple had a “great idea” and it
was “a tricky thing, because nobody wants to stamp on
people’s ideas and dreams”.
Ms Mann said her and her partner were hurt by the meeting, as
some residents had initially supported the proposal.
They had offered to talk to residents but were told locals
would rather hold the meeting without them. After the meeting
they offered to talk to them again but the residents
declined.
Their resource consent application states the idea is not to
create a “water park for children, rather a health and
relaxation spa for adults” and the couple have identified
their target market as skiers, snowboarders, tourists and
locals.
“People come to New Zealand because they want to see our
scenery and landscape . . . the land we have [in Queensberry]
has beautiful rocks and kanuka,” Ms Mann said.
“The aesthetic values are part of what we are trying to
promote. We want to work with the area.
“It’s a place where we want people to relax.”
The proposed accommodation would have the capacity to house
18 guests in a cabin complex and a further 12 in a
self-contained apartment complex.
Submissions on the proposal close at 4pm on Tuesday.

Manchester, Cheshire (PRWEB UK) 6 April 2012
Cheshire based luxury tour operator Only Exclusive Travel today announces that the Maldives is the most popular honeymoon destination in the world. The Maldives is an Indian archipelago which lies off the West coast of India. It is home to 26 atolls which are famous for postcard perfect white sand beaches.
Honeymooners love the Maldives for its 5 star spa resorts. The more luxurious resorts usually have their own island and a small number of villas. Soneva Fushi by Six Senses is the perfect example of a luxury spa resort. Only Exclusive Travel is currently offering 7 night for the price of 5 for a couple who wish to stay on the unpopulated 1,400 metre long island of Kunfunadhoo.
The resort’s villas are well spaced out around the island, which provides newlyweds with privacy. The island is rich in greenery which makes each villa feel like it is on it’s own beach. Couples can expect 5 star personal service. Dining can be enjoyed on the villa balcony, or on the beachfront with fire lanterns. Spa services and world class scuba diving are also available.
Only Exclusive Travel is also running special offers on many other Maldives honeymoon resorts. This includes the unique Soneva Gili, also by Six Senses, which is an all water villa resort, also on it’s own private island. The Huvafen Fushi resort is also very popular, even more so since a multi-million dollar re-furbishment. Guests to this world class resort can experience the first underwater lime spa in the world.
Packages offered by Only Exclusive Travel include flights and transfers. This summer the tour operator will team up with Qatar Airways to provide honeymooners with the most luxurious air travel. Qatar Airways is soon to unveil new Business Class seats which offer touch screen Android control panels and other high-tech features. The seats will be available on the airline’s new 787s, with just 22 seats allocated for Business Class. This means newlyweds can enjoy their 22-inch wide armchairs with more space than ever before.

SONOMA VALLEY, CA–(Marketwire – March 13, 2012) – For over 85 years the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn Spa has catered to discriminating travelers and has given prestige to the Sonoma Valley. Known for casually elegant accommodations, sensational cuisine, healing thermal mineral waters, luxurious spa treatments, and world-class golf — this luxury Sonoma hotel recently unveiled 30 newly renovated signature Mission Suites along with a new premier Winemaker Suite, aptly titled the “Jack London.” From the moment guests arrive they will find themselves immersed in the grace befitting one of Northern California’s finest resorts.
Building on the Inn’s historic legacy inspired the design plan — the new Sonoma suites respect the Inn’s mission-style architecture with the use of rustic woods and wrought iron, successfully capturing the essence and beauty of Wine Country. An updated color scheme of rich blues and California whites complements the Mission Suites’ open floor plan. Each handsomely appointed Sonoma suite features local artwork, entertainment and work desks with built-in smart media panels and new spa-like bathrooms with stone vanities and special marble and tile details. The renovation was capped by the sprawling 1,010 square feet Jack London Winemaker Suite. This unique suite features romantic garden views, a private free standing wet bar, and mixed-use work/dining table with built-in smart media panels. The luxuriously oversized bathroom, featuring a sunken Jacuzzi-style tub and the Inn’s signature apricot and cream products, offers a tranquil and relaxing atmosphere similar to that of our Sonoma resort’s Willow Stream Spa.
The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn Spa resort is proud to be one of the only luxury spa resorts in the country with its own source of thermal mineral water. The Inn continues to offer all guests privileged access to the celebrated Sonoma Golf Club. This private 18-hole golf course stretches 7,087 yards through native oaks and redwoods, nestled at the foot of the Sonoma Mountain Range and secluded by bordering vineyards.
The Inn boasts a Michelin Star, award-winning restaurant, Santé. Designed to exude the California wine country experience, Chef Tison showcases the region’s abundant local products and world-famous wines.
